They Bleed Too

I'm a big fan of the new rap artist Drake. I'm not a big fan of Rap/Hip Hop music, but I jam to some tunes. Of course with rap there are corresponding lyrics that bring about discontent with some verses, but I understand to some degree why this is, but most importantly I can listen past some of the vulgarity.

Drake has some really catchy tunes that I enjoy. My favorite is his new "Successful" song with the sensual sound of Trey Songz singing the chorus -- now that I'm typing this I'm realizing that it's actually Trey Songz that has made me interested in this song.....

Any who, my blog is not a celebrity gossip blog by any means, but something happened to Drake recently and the responses of people to this situation are really bothering me.

Drake has a bad leg --I think it's something with his ACL, MCL, and LCL-- well he fell down on stage while performing and had to be carried off stage. He looked to be in so much pain. Click here to Watch the video footage of his accident.

I read many comments from people about how "this is good for him!", "He deserves this", "He's wack", "He always wears that sweater!", and a whole bunch of other nonsensical points.

What bothers me is how people so easily forget that celebrities are human with aches and pains and a soul. He gets injured on stage and because you may not enjoy his music or think he looks funny you can't have any remorse?

I will say that, he made a very poor judgment on his part to come out and perform and jump around knowing his condition. But as an artist manager, I understand fully the pressure an artist feels to pay the bills!

New Motivation

Yesterday while Coco Puff and I were on our way to church this new motivation came to me. I have really no clue where it came from. I'm still wondering why this came to me at all.

It was like out of nowhere I felt like I should become a Personal Manager of some sorts.

How do I begin? What resources do I need? Who should I speak with? What resources should I gather? Do I have the creativity needed to follow this? What should be the target group that I manage??
Coco Puff has no idea where this all came from but he is behind me 100%.
We drove to Barnes & Noble to find some literature to educate myself and give me the philosophy behind this and I found an awesome book.

Artist Managment For the Music Business by Paul Allen.
I started reading this book and I'm taking lots of notes.
The book discusses how there are many ways to acquire knowledge as a business manager. Earning a degree in business is very useful, especially one that emphasizes marketing, brand management, and salesmanship.
I'm not going to do this.
Aside from the classroom , an especially effective way to acquire knowledge is to work for an artist management firm.
I can do this!
I went on a navigation binge last night and found so many things, joined so many sites, and emailed so many people.
To my surprise I've been requested to come in and interview at a management company. They are looking for Agent Assistants, Music Enthusiasts, Music Writers, etc.
I'm so freaking excited right now!

I went for the interview on July 20, 2009 as stated above. The interview was with a small management company called Real Artist Management and I got the internship as an assistant manager. I'm really excited. They currently manage two bands, Swati and Brother Joscephus. They are both really good bands. If you click on my music player and go to track 2 you will hear my favorite song by Swati. If you want to hear more of their music, click on their names to check out their sites.

I Can't Stop Laughing

Just to rub it in harder--I'm on vacation until Sept 8th.

So as you can imagine I have lot's of free time on my hands.

I don't sleep late-I actually get up before 10 on most days to get ready for the gym and I'm not the napping type, so I stay up all day.

I have found something to keep me engaged and I wanted to share it with you.

I spent hours on there last night laughing and laughing and laughing!

I wanted to share some of my favorites thus far with you so we can laugh together. Tell me what you think.

NIVEA My Silhouette!

Do you love DVR/TIVO as much as I?
I DVR everything and I finally got to sit and watch some shows that have been in the DVR for weeks.

I was watching The Tyra Show the other day and she was promoting the new Nivea My Silhouette Gel Cream.

There were 5 women on the show who participated in a competition and they lost between 4-8 inches off their thighs, hips, waist, and stomach. The challange was to help these women get back into their skinny jeans by changing their lifestyle and using this gel cream 1-2 times a day. The gel helps to firm, tone, and redifine your silhouette. But diet and exercise is crucial to the success of this challenge. See the results of the show here.
As I mentioned days ago, this summer I'm working out like crazy (everyday) and I did a little research on the gel cream. I decided to use this gel cream to help tone and firm up my skin.

Here are photos of my silhouette and arms.

So in 4 weeks (Aug 7) I'll put up updated photos. I'm sure all the working out I do will make this cream more effective then the women on the Tyra show.

Someone has a baby in the oven....

No it's not me.

It's Jennifer Hudson!

She looked so beautiful at the Micheal Jackson memorial service and I noticed that her stomach was huge!

I remember watching American Idol and thinking she was the best person on the show. Good luck to her and her husband to be. After everything she's been through a birth like this is a gift.
