My First Day, Kinda

Quick synopsis of what has happened since the last time I blogged:

I started my NYC Teaching Fellowship and my Graduate studies in Elementary Special Education. I was offered a position as a 2nd and 3rd grade special ed teacher in a self contained class

Today I walked into my new job and went into the office. I greeted the Assistant Principal with a warm hug and a bright smile and told her how excited I was to be there and set up my room. I met with a few other staff members, but I can only remember the names of a few, I got the list of my students, and was given the keys to my classroom.

As I was guided down the hall to my class with a veteran teacher, we chatted about the week to come, the week when the students came. We stood in front of the door trying all the keys, but none of them worked. Something told me 'maybe the door is open' and it was. I walked inside to a cluttered mess!

Now here I am completely overwhelmed by all of the desks, bookshelves, computers, tables, empty walls that need to be filled, and the thousands of books that need to be pulled out, recatergorized, and labeled. All this before Tuesday??

I figured it would be best to first put my room together.... did that from 9-3.

I'm physically exhausted.

I have to go in tomorrow and begin the dreadful books.

YIKES!
