Wedding Planning Part III

Family... Family... Family!

My mom and sister are giving me grief about not wanting to have a LARGE wedding.

My African family is very large and I have many aunts and uncles on my moms side and my dads. I also have thousands of other people who have common DNA with me--they are known as brothers, sisters, cousins, neices and nephews. It's not that I don't want to have everyone share this joyous day with me. In fact, I'd love it if everyone could take part in the day that Coco Puff and sanctify our relationship, but quite frankly, we can't afford it.

Now, my parents are all ready to come together with all the family and pay for this wedding, but my non-negotiables make it challenging.

I didn't mind where the wedding was held as well as the venue for the reception. I also didn't mind what food was served or liquor or even music. I just need to have it catered with a wait staff and it must be a sitdown reception.

Well ofcourse these terms dramatically change the budget. If I go there way, it'll be a buffet style with family coming together to cook, set up, and serve.

Uh uh. That's tacky.

Who's wedding is this again?

A Baby's Love

There was a surprise for me this Thanksgiving!

I had a new baby neice named Jada, and my brother brought her up from North Carolina to celebrate the holiday with us.

WHAT A WONDERFUL THING TO BE THANKFUL FOR!

Jada Cynthia is 5 months young and she is such a beautiful baby. She is very friendly and has the largest set of eyes that you ever did see.

You had to see me last weekend getting all anxious right before I walked into the house, because I knew I would be gazing into those big brown eyes very shortly. And she too would get very excited when Aunty Princess was around. I spoiled her rotten--I wouldn't put her down and let her touch and play with whatever she wanted--aren't aunty's supposed to do that??

Now I have neices Gemille, Savannah, Liberty, Benetta, Jada and nephews Isaac, Jaden, Jaiden--yes, I have 2 with the same name, different brothers--so I am an aunty 8 times.

I love the newest addition to my family and I can't wait to see her again... I've actually been thinking about driving to N.C. with Coco Puff to pick her up for a week sometime after Christmas. He doesn't think my brother and her mother will let me. And he says to me "Can't they just mail her to me?"

How cute.

R.I.P. Uncle Frank

My uncle Frank passed away last night.
I pray he's in a better place.

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

He was my fathers brother.
They shared the same father.
They had different mothers.
He was in his early 50's.

I wasn't close to him at all.
I don't really remember anything about him other then he was my uncle Frank. He has 2 children--both are boys--I don't even remember their names.
He lived in Queens, N.Y.
After his divorce he became an alcoholic and had severe liver disease.
He had a stroke last year.
Last night he wasn't feeling too well so he called my uncle Prince--his younger brother--to take him to the hospital.
They called an ambulance.....

And that was all he wrote.

I'm going to visit my closest aunt today--his youngest sister--in Worcester, M.A. because she sounded really down when I called her.
I'll most likely stay there overnight.

I don't think I can handle another Funeral so soon.
I know most of you are new to my blog, but I lost my Gramma on Feb. 16, 2005.
That was very difficult for me.

Click the following link to read the post I made in reference to what I and my family believe was an afterdeath encounter with my Gramma.
She spoke to me again
