that they are beautiful, that they are smart, and that they can do anything they put their mind to.One way I've done this, was by creating daily affirmations as I referred in a previous post. Today's affirmation was "I believe in ME!" We went around the room discussing what this affirmation means and many students were able to give me a reflection on this.
I asked students what sports they enjoyed or what activities they enjoyed and they shared their answers with me.
"I like to hoola hoop"
"I like to play basket ball"
"I like to play soccer"
"I like to build sand castles"
There were 3 students who kept saying "I don't believe in me" and they really meant it.
I didn't address the comments right away.
I talked with them about believing that that they can hoola hoop, belive they can make that basket, believe they can make that goal, believe they can make a great sand castle.
Now lets apply that to school.
I told them, I believe in you all, that you can work really hard. I believe in you all, that you can do your best. I believe in you all, that you can follow the rules. I believe in you all, that you can finish your work.
Now who believes in themselves?!?!
ME!!
Then they went around telling me how they believed in themselves and what they believe they can do. I was very proud.
Later that day....
One of my students kept saying "I can't do this, its too hard!", during our math lesson on counting money. Another student says to him "You have to believe in yourself!"
I was soo happy I grabbed my "WOW! Great Moments" book and wrote it down.

Am happy you get joy from doing all this, God will reward you hun..
I pray everyday that God continues to give me the strength to do what I do.
I also pray that he allows my kids to see their value and worth.
They are getting there slowly.
