Happy Birthday Alex

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX

This weekend was my girl Alexs' Birthday. Alex and I met during my freshmen year of college when I attended Northeastern University in Boston. Since I've transfered to URI she and I see eachother about twice a year. So it was her birthday, she wanted me to spend it with her, I had the weekend off, so ofcourse I was going out with her.

She wanted to do it big so we went to the FoxWoods Resort Casino.
It was great!

I wanted to get my hair done since the cold weather is here and I'm fearful of breakage.
So I arrived at the shop to get my hair braided at 10:30 am.
Tell me why I didn't get up out of the salon until 9:30 pm.

I felt so bad because we wanted to arrive at the Casino around 8:30 pm and here I was just finishing my hair, 30 minutes from my campus, undressed and unpacked.
My hair looked real good though.

We arrive at the Casino around 11 pm and it didn't even matter.
We had a great ol' time.
Didn't hit the sack until 6 am.

We woke up
Checked out
and went to get something to eat.

We went to this restaurant called Amy Ruth's. Its a Home Style Southern Cuisine restaurant located up North. The original location is in Harlem, NY. There food was real nice, but they have nothing on Silvia's soul food restaurant, also located in Harlem--Now that is some real southern artery clogging food.
But their food was still very good.
I had the Councilman Bill Perkins -- Southern Honey-Dripped Fried Chicken--with a side of baked macaroni and cheese and candied yams.

Mmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmmm!

After we ate I played $5.00 on the slot machines.
ummmmm
Maybe y'all grown folks can help me understand something.
What in the name of anything is sooo fun about playing the slots?
You put the quarter in
you press the button
and you LOSE
I dont know, maybe it's just me, but that mess is not fun at all!
:-
After I lost my gas money in them damned machines we left.

I really enjoyed myself and enjoyed spending time with my girl again.

Sounds like you had a really good time.

Check this out -- I also went to Northeastern (1982-1984). I loved being in Boston! And I grew up about 30 minutes from Foxwoods. You're all over my old stomping grounds. Your hair came out nice -- it should have after sitting in that chair for so long.

It seems like you guys had fun. It's nothing like good soul food. I've never been to Sylvia's in Harlem, but I once ate at this little place in Brooklyn on the corner of Washington and Fulton called Ruthies. It was sooo good. The lady that owned the place is originally from North Carolina....of course. :)

Wow sister Chele, it's a small world.

Thanks, she really did a great job. I've been saying that same thing to everyone that has commented on my hair. "It should, I was in the chair for over 8 hrs" LOL

Hey Stephen...
You sho ain't lieing!
See, I'm Liberian and I didn't grow up on soul food. Every chance I get to get some I try. My ex boyfriends family is from Alabama so dinner over there was superb!

Never heard of Ruthies, but I'll try to check it out.
You have to check out Silvia's if you ever come back to NY.
